YOGA FOR BACKS

Yoga has been demonstratably helpful in alleviating the back problems that so many people suffer from. There has been sophisticated research in this area and yoga is now considered by many medical practitioners to be amongst the most beneficial modalities in the treatment of a acute and chronic back conditions.

General yoga classes can be beneficial in helping to maintain a healthy back, but where there has been injury, particularly if it includes a prolapsed or herniated (slipped) disc the problem can be exacerbated by certain yoga postures. It is therefore important that the condition is properly evaluated by an experienced remedial yoga practitioner and this is often only possible in a private consultation.

Yoga is an holistic practice and used for remdial purposes cultivates an integration of body, mind and spirit, creating a sense of harmony with life. It promotes the innate healing resources of the body and assists in the proper functioning of the various bodily systems.

In addition to our normal classes The Yoga Studio offers one-to-one consultations, a specialisecd back class commencing soon and a series of workshops.
