COURSE CONTENT:
Teaching Skills and Practice:
7-9 Days of detailed study of classroom teaching practice suitable for beginner and general ability students and an overview of general business skills and PR for a small Yoga Business. Including:
Asanas: Selected classical postures and groups of postures and postural variation, posture modifications (with and without supports), the benefits of individual asanas and their likely effects, general precautions and personal limitations.
Pranayamas: Selected Classical breathing practices
Mudra and Bandhas: Selected Classical hand and body seals and methods of combining these with other Yoga techniques.
Lesson Planning: Posture preparation, posture grouping and course planning
Shat Karmas: Selected Inner Cleansing Practices
Relaxation Techniques: Including the practice of Yoga Nidra
Yoga Anatomy: Consideration of the main physical and energetic systems of the body, and their affect on Yoga practices.
Philosophy A review of Patanjali’s sutras, the Pradipika and the Bhagavad Gita and therir relation to classroom instruction.
Business Skills: Including setting up and running yoga business, insurance and regulation, finance, health and safety.
Journal: All students are expected to maintain a journal to include experiences of their personal Yoga practice, dreams etc, as an ongoing personal development tool.
Retreat: The Course will culminate in an Intensive Retreat based on a predetermined theme that reflects the interests of the trainees. The cost of the retreat is in addition to the course fees.
